Compila Exchange

Webdesigner help, webdesign software, html css tutorials

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are well.

I would be very grateful for your comments and suggestions on some modifications we have made to our web site – http://www.compila.com

The principles reasons for the changes are;

1)    Gradually changing the site to a full CSS – Div website. With over 1600 pages it is a big job so we are trying to do it bit by bit

2)    Change some SEO functionality, hopefully to improve rankings for some keywords

3)    Make the site faster to load and cleaner for our visitors

4)    Make finding and reading information faster and more efficient

5)    Remove unnecessary fluff and content

6)    Provide more detailed information on Compila

7)    Add some buying assistance, via guides and tips on the hosting features

Basically only the content of the Hosting section has changed, although new menus etc have been added throughout the site.

We have added the oldsite to – http://www.compila.com/oldsite so that you can compare the changes. Only the Hosting section is really worth looking at as this is the one that has changed the most.

Thank you very much for your time and any comments you may have.

Take care

Regards

Harvey

Hi harvey, the page that prompted me to buy from you is the one with the Package prices this one...

now it takes 3 clicks to get to it...I would have this as my main page.....it's clear and easy to understand....and a great deal...hope that helps...

Hello Harvey

I have compared the old and new Hosting pages on Compila sites and can only see the benefits. The removal of the 'fluff' at the top of the page means that there is more visible meaningful content.

As Phil said it is the page that prompts customers to buy from you, we all want to know quickly what is the right hosting package and if it is affordable.

There is just one thing that may cause a little confusion with prospective customers and that is the Customer Reviews section is still categorised by the old hosting packages ie Starter, Bargain, Business, Commerce etc rather than the new named Power Plans. I presume that the Commerce Package is now Power Pro.

I am sure that this is something that you have scheduled to do and as you said you have an awful lot of pages to change. Good luck I think you are doing a great job.

Kind regards
Sheila
Definitely cleaner and easier to use, Harvey.

Slightly off topic - a friend was discussing hosting with me, and he dutifully clicked through my affiliate link. What he did was to check all the hosting options, and then select the hosting. Then he realised he didn't have the domain, so he went and did that, which cleared the hosting selected. He clicked through, and only after purchase did he realise he'd lost his hosting, which he bought separately. Doing this meant that he lost the 'free domain' offer. But this was quickly cleared up by your support people, and he was going to receive a credit.

I just wondered how many people did this? I know the logical way to do it would be to select the domain first, and then choose hosting. Logical, he ain't ;)

Anyway, nice redesign.

Gerald
