Reiki Got a silver at Beijing! Have you tried Reiki healing?

Have you ever tried Reiki?

If you did would you like to share your thoughts and experiences?

Its a wonderful energy to work with and the results can be impressive.

One of the most publicised was New Zealand cyclist Hayden Roulston, who won the silver medal for the Olympic men's 4000m individual pursuit at the 2008 Beijing Olympics! In a pre-win interview he recognized Reiki as the reason he was able to recover from a serious heart condition in 2006.
The interviewer's question was “How did you fix something the medical fraternity said was life threatening? “
Roulston's response was:
“Through Reiki actually. It's Japanese healing technique. It's a hands-on treatment which transfers energy from one person to another. There was once upon a time I use to focus on just the mental and the physical, now it's the emotional and the spiritual, four very different components that's going to win the gold medal. If I walk away with the gold medal knowing I performed to my utmost best I”ll be happy, but if I walk away with silver or bronze or fourth the better man won on the day...”

His belief in Reiki was so strong that he took his Reiki practitioner with him to Beijing!!!!!

Here is some information on REIKI

Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Force Energy, a vital force which permeates all living things. It is pronounced as ray (the suns ray) and key (like door key) – ray key. Reiki is also referred to as the Usui System of Natural Healing. Its everywhere around us and just because we cant see it, doesn't mean it isn't there. We can't see the wind but we can feel it. We cant see the pictures as they float down to our tv's but they magically appear on our screens. We can, however, feel its affects!

Reiki is an energy technique that balances, harmonizes and restores our energy systems by channelling the energy through the palms of the hands.

Reiki was rediscovered by Dr Mikao Usui who was born on the 15th August 1865 in Kyoto, Japan and it is believed he attended a Tendai Buddhist monastery school in 1869. He went onto become a theological scholar and teacher, who in the mid 1880’s undertook an extensive twenty-one-year study of the healing phenomena of history's greatest spiritual leaders. He also studied ancient sutras (Buddhist teachings written in Sanskrit). He discovered ancient sounds and symbols that are linked directly to the human body and nervous system which activate the universal life energy for healing, he found a way to connect to the Reiki healing technique and he spent the latter part of his life using and teaching this wonderful knowledge until his death around 1893.

He created 5 Spiritual Precepts for daily living which were handed down from Mikao Usui as a part of the oral tradition of the Usui System. The precepts are the heart of Reiki and remind us to be as conscious as possible, letting go of worry and anger, learning to honour and cultivate appreciation. The only real mastery is self-mastery.

The real intent of the principles was to bring about enlightenment, peaceful living, kindness toward all, calm in your mind, and in your life. Anger, Worry, Rudeness, and other ego based behaviours and feelings make it hard to connect and be with this Universal source of love, light and harmony.
The more we use them, the more we change for the better!

Think it in your mind, chant it. Change your mind and body for the better -- Mikao Usui

Just for today, I will not worry
Just for today, I will not be angry
Just for today, I will give thanks for my many Blessings
Just for today, I will do my work honestly
Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing

What Reiki IS NOT

A religion, a cult, a sect or an organization, A form of psychic healing, of mind control, wishful thinking or hypnosis or A meditation or massage technique..

How does it work?

Reiki works by helping the body, mind & spirit to heal itself. The practitioners own energy is never depleted as the practitioner too receives healing. In order for Reiki to flow all that is needed is intent. Reiki begins to flow automatically.

Reiki energy is all around, its in everything from plants to animals to crystals to us humans and all we need to do is to tap into it! In order to achieve this the therapist needs to be attuned to that energy.

To put it in simple terms, your TV is a receiver and receives transmitted signals in order for you to be able to see the pictures on the screen, we cant see the pictures as they fly through the air to be picked up by our aerials and then onto our tv screens so it is with Reiki energy. The practitioner, once they have been attuned to the energies, becoming the transmitter allowing the signal to flow through to the client/patient (receiver).

Once a practitioner has been attuned, they simply “tune in” to the energy and let it flow through them to you via their palms. This energy is given to you, either by placing their palms directly onto your body or their hands are held just above the body with no contact made and working in either a set pattern / routine or are guided by the energy to areas requiring help , they channel the energy to you.

Reiki is not contra indicated for any ailment or state and can be used in conjunction with other therapies such as Indian Head Massage, Body Massage etc

Psychologically, an hour's treatment of Reiki is equivalent to 4 hours of sleep; this experience alone makes Reiki a very effective stress reliever.

What do you feel during a Reiki treatment?

Sometimes you may feel a coldness, pulses of energy, or a rush of energy through your body but usually, you will feel a pleasant warming heat on the area that is being treated. This deeply warming relaxation will enable energy blockages within the body to be released and these can show in many ways, such as the desire to continually swallow, cough or sneeze, a rumbling stomach. These are great indications that the treatment is working and should not cause any concern. Sometimes people fall asleep, such is the relaxation felt in the body and others may feel nothing at all during the treatment itself, but this does not mean that it has not worked.

What are the side effects, if any?

Reiki is about cleansing and releasing and it can be an emotional release, your body purifying itself of toxins, illnesses, healing, or letting go of problems. This is often called a healing crisis and should be seen a positive event it normally lasts about 24/48hrs.

Remember Reiki can do no harm; it always heals for the higher good

The symptoms of a healing crisis might include some of the following:-

General fatigue , Aches and pains, Perspiration, Fever, Coughs and chills, More frequent urination
Discharges from the skin, Increased body odours, Diarrhoea, Constipation, High temperature, Emotional irritation, Restlessness, Vivid dreams/Nightmares, Feelings of coldness, Nausea, Dizziness, Vertigo, Discharges from body orifices, Headaches, Muscular pains

Hopefully i've given some of you who have never had Reiki, some information and the inclination to try it! And those that have, I look forward to hearing about your experiences.
