Swimming in a sea of html and css or am I drowning

well spent the last day adding over 7 pages to my site, I needed these because analytics was dictating I was getting visitors looking for such things as blackjack, mobile phone gaming and slots etc and we simply were not catering for these.people, I suppose its like someone walking into a sweet shop and asking for strawberry bourbons, after you have been asked several times and you do not stock them I am sure they will be on your next order.
The painful thing to me is I am a complete newbie when it comes to writing in Html, css and I am struggling to get there, but being a die-hard I just get my nose to the grind-stone and do it. Unfortunately I realise I am probably killing my site as I am "bad coding" but at present I simply cannot afford to hire someone to fix the mess. I know I am going to either have to do this or become a scholar, I have put frames where I shouldn't, used fonts within the code that should be handled by css stuff. Still I managed to get the menu done, a few of the pages implemented and am seeing an increase of traffic in just one day. Now I have to fix those "Under construction" pages (Yes I know its a BIG no-no)
Once I have everything in place I think I will finally hire someone to fix the entire mess I have made and hopefully tighten up my SEO quality

Hi Paul,

CSS is not as daunting as you may feel it is. In fact once you start playing around with it you will probably think “why have I not this before?”

There are many CSS tutorials around on the web and I intend to start creating my own tutorials on here over the next few weeks as a resource for our members.

A very helpful book which you may find interesting and a great tool for creating CSS is:

http://oreilly.com/catalog/9780596802455/

It is a very clear and concise and starts at the very beginning. It has tutorials with working examples that you can download to help you. You do not need to know anything about CSS before reading this book which is the best feature as it teaches you it all!

I would suggest getting to grips with CSS as this is the best tool for designing sites and helps a lot with SEO.

Hope that helps

Regards

Tony

Hi Paul,

Rather than struggling with the html, css code etc, why don't you let your blog work for you. If you are using WordPress and have the "All in one SEO" plugin installed, you can get your content indexed almost instantly. Then all you need to do is worry about writing the content and not the html/css coding.

If you can get the content correct, i.e. keyword rich title, meta keywords, meta description and the page body this may be much easier for you. However, for these articles to be effective, your blog must contain Calls to Action. Now that might be a Free Trial, Follow on Twitter, Signup to Newsletter etc etc what ever your ones are.

Here is an article on Compila's blog which might help you;

The Secret To An Effective Blog: Calls To Action

If you need any further help then please let us know.
