This new law is WAY wrong. There is a provision for the Mandelson (Or whoever gets his job) to change copyright law without it going through Parliament. There are already close to 300 amendments suggested by the Lords.

We are only getting this law because Mandy had lunch with David Geffen on his (Geffen's) boat. Before that meeting Mandelson showed no interest whatsoever with the copyright laws. Since that meeting he has breathed hell fire at anyone who dares to use the internet.

Hi Paul

Yes, I agree with you entirely. Also, the bigger the fish the bigger the lawyers they have generally. I have had experience before regarding a customer, who had not done anything wrong, but a large corporate took offence and because of the size of their legal team, he was forced to back down because he couldn't risk having to pay huge legal fees.

I think that the government would be better to make copyright laws and the mechanisms to support such laws simpler. I think it is crazy that, for example, to play piped music in a shop, you need not one but two licenses. Why? It is madness and a good example of how barmy the laws are and how they enable the music barons (not the performers and writers) to exploit us.

Many people just don't know if they are legal or not. Copy an image off a so-called royalty-free website and then look at the small-print. There are all sorts of clauses. It is misleading and could drop you in the smelly stuff. Hopefully, my profile image hasn't crossed any copyrights. Who knows?
